Description |
Bryer Cottage is an idyllic 350 year old thatched farmhouse which has been sympathetically restored retaining it’s traditional layout and features. In addition to it’s rustic charm it has the required modern necessities previously alien to these historical cottages!
Set in the heart of county Limerick’s lush pastures this traditional Golden Vale farmhouse enjoys splendid views of Liskennet and Knockfierna hills and the further away Ballyhoura Mountains. Set back from a rural roadway it’s private drive enhances it’s tranquillity.
The kitchen is reputed to be the largest example of it’s kind in the region. Now with a modern cooker the guests are not required to boil the pot of spuds over the open hearth although that is still available for the adventurous. Complete with it’s large table, stepping into this simple room is like stepping back in time.
The bathroom is really the main modern feature for your comfort but there is still the outside loo for the diehards. Complete with shower, bath, whb and wc. The cupboard conceals the washing machine. The house is fully heated with storage heaters. The final modern concession is a television and DVD player.
Bryer Cottage can accommodate up to eight people. There are two double rooms each with a queen size bed and two rooms each with two single beds. The sitting room, traditionally referred to as the parlour, with its antique furniture, retains an important original feature, the ‘Liston’s drinks cupboard’! It also has a piano in case of a rare wet day.
Only six miles from the
picturesque village of Adare and situated between the villages of Ballingarry and Croom, Bryer Cottage is amidst an oasis of award winning restaurants and traditional Irish pubs.
