Aryuveda treatments and massages at reasonable prices. The villa is an ideal basis for round-trips or day excursions. A spectacular beach is 1.5Km from the villa. Just use the bicycle that is provided free, or use our local tuk tuk driver. The historic town of Galle is only 20 mins away, were you will find an ancient Dutch Fort with 5 star hotels and international restaurants, and of course the famous Galle Cricket Ground.

Villa Loika has ceiling fans in all bedrooms, verandah and kitchen area. The house has very high ceilings and is built to keep cool. We also have a stand alone fan to put where needed.

There are a few supermarkets in Hikkaduwa for you to stock up on basic foods such as dairy products that can be kept in the fridge. We would arrange bottled water to be available on arrival along with a fruit bowl and fresh bread. Fresh fruit and vegetables can be bought on a daily basis and, Sunil, our caretaker who lives at the top of the garden, can shop for these using the bike provided, or accompany you on his bike to show you the local lifestyle. His wife, Chandrika, can cook marvelous jack fruit or fish curries which can be seasoned to suit your palette. We give her 100 rupees per person, plus cost of ingredients.

The villa is one and half kilometers from the beach and too far to walk in the tropical climate, but we have local tuk tuk drivers that Sunil can telephone to pick you up to go into the main beach and shopping areas. This would cost 100 – 200 rupees per trip. They can also do day or half-day visits to Galle.

There is a wide selection of hotels and restaurants in Hikkaduwa that cater for Europeans, along with traditional Sri Lankan dishes. You can also pay day entry (around 50 rupees each) to use any hotel facilities, pool, beach access. Or you can go to the beaches independently as the beaches are all free access. The drivers will let you know which is the safest for children.
