The hillside village of Zia with its wide variety of shops and restaurants is a pleasant 1 Km walk (or drive) away through a forest. One of the restaurants, Oromedon, has excellent food. Bill Clinton and other luminaries dinned there in 2003. The nearest sandy beach, Tigaki, is about 12 minutes drive. The local area has several other ancient villages where traditional Greek life has remained unchanged for centuries. Ancient ruins include Hippocrate's 3rd century hospital, a harbour-side crusader fortress, Greek theatre and a selection of mosaics. Kos Town with its myriad bars is only 20 minutes drive.
For the more energetic, activities include forest and mountain walks, biking, swimming, sailing, windsurfing, tennis, horse riding and fishing. |
